Why it stands out

Every day changes the way home.

Changing paths & conditions

Routes, clearings, visibility, timing, and movement can shift from one day to the next.

Keepsake progression

Permanent finds carry new choices into later wanders without making every run identical.

Creature behavior

Each creature family moves, reacts, and pressures your route in its own way.

Short replayable days

Runs are built for discovery, quick recovery, and the temptation of one more meadow.

Lantern Tree & sunset

The day keeps moving. Gather enough light and bring it home before dusk closes in.

Fair online competition

Compete in replay-verified Steam leaderboards where every eligible score is checked before publication.

The world

Gentle does not mean still.

Mosslight Meadow is built around short, replayable runs. Paths, encounters, collectible locations, and special meadow conditions vary while the central promise stays simple: gather light and make it home.

The Meadow Scout, Lantern Tree, sunseeds, and creatures share one hand-drawn visual style throughout the game and this site.

Game FAQ

What is decided so far.

Confirmed details are listed below. Features still being tested are clearly identified and will be updated when their status is final.

How do I control the game?

Move with WASD, arrow keys, a controller stick or D-pad. Dash with Space or controller A; pause with P, Escape, or controller Menu/Start.

Does it support controllers?

Yes. Gameplay and menus support controller navigation. Stick dead zone and vibration can be adjusted in Settings.

What is the Steam Deck status?

Steam Deck verification has not been announced. Compatibility details will be published after dedicated testing.

Which languages are supported?

The current interface is in English. Additional language plans have not yet been announced.

Can I play offline?

Yes. The core meadow and Local Records work offline. A wander started without online authorization stays in Local Records only and is never uploaded later. If an already-authorized trail loses its connection after starting, its protected submission can retry when the service returns.

How long is a session?

Mosslight Meadow is designed around short replayable days. Exact session length varies with the day, route, and player.

What are the system requirements?

The supported target is Windows PC via Steam. Current minimum and recommended specifications are listed on the official Steam store page.

Does Mosslight Meadow use generative AI?

Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with portions of the game's code, hand-drawn-style visual elements, original music and audio, written text, and some store and community marketing materials. All included material was reviewed, selected, edited, and integrated by the developer.

The game does not use generative AI during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services. Its randomized meadows are created through conventional procedural generation.

How does saving work?

Progress, records, run statistics, and settings are saved locally on the PC and synchronized through Steam Cloud when it is enabled in the Steam client.

How are Online Records verified?

An eligible trail receives a one-use server authorization before its first meadow is generated. The completed run is then replayed by the Lanternleaf service using the exact rules for that game build. Only a matching score and final state can reach the Steam Trusted leaderboard; the game client cannot write a competitive score directly.
